Completed in 2009, set multiple benchmarks for commercial architecture in Qingdao. Strategically located, its eastern façade faces the main harbor basin of the Olympic Sailing Center, while its western side visually dialogues with the iconic "May Wind" sculpture at May Fourth Square. To the north, together with Hisense Plaza, it completes a prestigious commercial cluster, creating a distinctive and unmatched urban hub in Qingdao.

Design Concept

The architectural concept centers on marine elements, drawing inspiration from the surrounding coastal environment.

Distinctive Features

The building’s wave-shaped glass curtain wall enhances the façade with expansive glazing, maximizing natural daylight. Functionally, it achieves over 60% natural light penetration, significantly reducing daytime artificial lighting energy consumption.

Inside the mall, the transparent daylighting creates an immersive atmosphere reminiscent of sunshine and sea breeze. The curved curtain wall also effectively mitigates cold winds from the sea during winter months.

Spatial Organization

The design boldly embraces a vertical retail street concept. A sunken courtyard not only addresses the challenge of daylight access to underground commercial areas but also creates a unique “canyon effect,” intuitively guiding visitors through vertical circulation.
The sloped rooftop terrace is precisely oriented toward the lighthouse of the Olympic Sailing Center, forming an exceptional visual corridor for panoramic views.
