Situated in the heart of Taipei’s Xinyi District and adjacent to Taipei 101, Taipei Nanshan Plaza is a landmark mixed-use development that seamlessly integrates office towers, retail spaces, and cultural performance venues. This bold and innovative project injects new vitality into the district, creating a world-class urban icon that shapes the city’s future.
Design Concept
The design of Taipei Nanshan Plaza is inspired by the form of “hands clasped in prayer,” symbolizing blessings and gratitude to Taiwan—a gesture representing harmony, prosperity, and hope for the island’s future.
Architecture
The complex is composed of three main components: the office tower, the retail podium, and a diamond-shaped cultural entrance building. The façade curtain wall is engineered to withstand wind pressures exceeding level 16, reinforced with dampers and deep foundation piles to resist typhoons and earthquakes.
Distinctive Features
The tower’s multifaceted polygonal form is fitted with sunshades to reduce wind shear and solar gain, while enhancing its nighttime illumination. The retail façade is clad with 3D stainless steel plum blossom patterns, blending Taiwanese cultural and artistic motifs. The development proudly holds Taiwan’s Diamond-level Green Building certification and LEED Gold, exemplifying its commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability.
Levels 5 through 42 accommodate premium office spaces, while floors 43 to 45 host a panoramic restaurant and sky bar. The seven-story retail podium houses department stores, Atre boutiques, and cultural spaces. The diamond-shaped entrance building contains an arts center for cultural performances and public events.
A network of underground corridors and skybridges creates a dedicated pedestrian circulation system. The fourth-floor sky garden and surrounding plazas enhance openness and connect seamlessly with the urban fabric of the Xinyi planning district. The basement includes 31 large bus parking bays to alleviate traffic congestion effectively.
Urban Significance
Embodying the concept of a “urban mountain range,” Taipei Nanshan Plaza integrates culture, commerce, office, and public realms into a structurally sound, safe, energy-efficient, and culturally rich skyscraper. It completes the Xinyi skyline and weaves into the city’s living network, establishing itself as one of Taipei’s most emblematic metropolitan landmarks.
