This project is Taiwan’s first national facility dedicated to genetic and biochemical research, serving as a key hub for interdisciplinary life sciences. It integrates genomics, proteomics, and precision medicine research and applications, aiming to advance translational medicine and biotechnology development.
In the floor plan layout, research offices and laboratories are separately arranged. The research offices feature a double-layered floor-to-ceiling glass curtain wall, providing researchers with ample daylight and expansive views. Between the two glass layers is a balcony equipped with planters and green landscaping, offering a restful space for staff. This double-skin façade also helps prevent direct sunlight penetration, reducing air conditioning loads.
The laboratory exterior walls are made of precast concrete with minimal windows to conserve energy. This creates a contrast between the solid, spacious appearance of the labs and the transparent, bright look of the research areas.
