Kaohsiung Xiaogang Airport is one of Taiwan’s key international airports, serving as the air transportation hub for southern Taiwan.
As a medium-sized airport with 12 boarding gates, the finger-type layout is considered the most efficient configuration. Each finger accommodates six aircraft parking positions, with three gates on each side. From the departure security checkpoint, passengers can easily walk to any gate without relying on moving walkways.

Kaohsiung is an industrial city known for its shipbuilding industry; thus, the design language adopts an exposed steel structure industrial style and incorporates the form of an airplane into the terminal architecture.
The elliptical-shaped waiting lounges mimic the shape of an aircraft fuselage. Circular skylights on the restroom façade further emphasize the aircraft imagery. At the arrivals level, a canopy designed in the shape of an aircraft wing provides shelter for passengers boarding or alighting vehicles. The canopy is supported by streamlined projecting beams, giving the impression of a wing preparing for flight.
