Once a key historical leisure spot in northern Taiwan, the Tamsui Shalun beach was closed due to multiple safety incidents, leaving the region lacking large-scale public recreational spaces. This project aims to revitalize the value of publicly owned land, improve the surrounding landscape, and provide open space for community recreation.
Tamsui Shalun Cultural and Creative Park
Design Concept
The building’s form is inspired by the flowing movement of ocean waves, featuring a central atrium to bring in ample daylight. Its exterior is simple and understated, reminiscent of black-and-white seaside foam patterns. The stairs and exterior corridors are arranged in an overlapping, interwoven manner.
The gently undulating grassy slopes seamlessly connect the building with outdoor courtyards, splash pools, and a scenic restaurant, creating a harmonious integration between architecture and landscape.

At the entrance, hedges screen the parking area, accented with vibrant yellow, green, and blue colors reflecting the company’s official branding.
The second floor of the education center serves as a parking lot, utilizing metal mesh combined with climbing plants to create a three-dimensional green facade.
